Juan of the Dead to Premiere at Toronto International Film Festival

From the hot and sunny land of Cuba to the Great White North of Canada, zombie comedy JUAN OF THE DEAD is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September.

According to the Latin American Herald Tribune, Cuba's first zombie film is scheduled to be part of the lineup at TIFF, held from Sept. 8-18, although no official programming announcement for Juan of the Dead has been made by TIFF as of this post.

However, if Juan of the Dead is indeed premiering at TIFF, I bet it will be part of the Midnight Madness program that showcases the weirdest and wildest genre films at TIFF.

EDIT: Apparently, Juan is not scheduled for TIFF's Midnight Madness program (see 2011 lineup). Seems like a missed opportunity.

After TIFF, Juan will screen in October at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain.

Juan of the Dead was filmed in Havana and blends the genres of comedy, action, and horror to tell the story of a Cuban who starts a zombie-busting business when Havana is overrun by the walking dead.
