Ford Brothers take THE DEAD to India

The Ford Brothers, the British director/writer/producer team behind the 2010 African-set zombie thriller The Dead (review), are following up their acclaimed zombie debut with the first-ever internationally produced zombie film shot in India: The Dead 2: India

Now in post-production, The Dead 2: India (which is in dire need of a better title if you ask me) follows the story of American engineer Nicholas Burton (Joseph Millson) in a race against time to reach his pregnant girlfriend Ishani Sharma (Meenu). Burton enlists the help of an orphan street kid Javed (Anand Goyal) and together they make a perilous 300 mile journey across deadly landscapes as a zombie apocalypse threatens to engulf the entire nation.

So far, The Dead 2 looks great! I was a big fan of the Ford Brothers' choice to follow the tradition of George A. Romero's zombie films instead of the more popular "fast-zombie" apocalypse scenarios. If the Ford Brothers play their cards right, they'll probably end up with a more frightening and exciting international zombie thriller on a smaller budget than we'll get out of the bloated World War Z.
